SeepuStar iPod-compatible video glasses

22Moo today introduced the SeepuStar DV230, a portable, wearable display - a pair of glasses designed to display a 35-inch flicker-free, enhanced definition virtual screen. It can be connected to virtually any video source, including the video iPod, DVD player, Xbox, Playstation, etc. and the “display” is adjustable to provide an optimal viewing angle. It has adjustable arms to fit even the biggest pumpkin heads and can even be worn by those of us who already wear prescription glasses. The DV230 (I refuse to continue typing the word SeePu, because I am just that juvenile) is expected to ship on Nov. 22nd for $250, with the following specs:

Virtual Display Size: 35 inches, 2m away
Resolution : 320*240 (220,000 pixels -QVGA), full colour
Video Signal : Auto-selecting PAL or NTSC.
Power Consumption : <450mW
Lithium Battery : 6-8 Hours playback
Audio : Built-in stereo speakers
Included Accessories:
Viewer Controller, Lithium Ion Polymer 750mAh battery, AC Power Adapter, Audio/Video Cables, RCA Barrel Cable, Nose Bridges, USB Charging cable and user's manual.

There's simply no way to wear these things and not look like you walked out of Star Trek: The Next Generation. And I can’t imagine this is comfortable viewing for the farsighted among us

ZUNE CREATES WONDER !!!!!!

Don’t cry for the Zune just yet
Microsoft’s newest MP3 player, which launched just over two weeks ago, took second place in the portable digital player market in its first four days of sales, according to numbers generated by the market research firm NPD Group.

Microsoft’s new Zune MP3 player did not fare as poorly as some predicted during its first week of sales.

“Considering it is a new brand, it’s a very good first-week showing,” said Ross Rubin, director of industry for NPD Group.
Microsoft’s (up $0.15 to $29.54, Charts) Zune took 9 percent of digital player sales, according to NPD, edging out Sandisk (down $0.85 to $43.92, Charts), but behind Apple (down $1.09 to $90.72, Charts), whose iPod models have long dominated the MP3 player market.

Another research agency, Current Analysis, reported a somewhat similar sales reading during the same week. For the same week ending November 18, 2006, the Zune took 7 percent of the MP3 player market, falling behind both Apple and Sandisk.

Samsung’s Blu-Ray DVD hits the market

If it hadn’t been for the PS3’s heartbreaking delay, we’d have expected to see our first Blu-ray machine in the form of a next-gen console.
As it is, our first taste of Blu-ray hit the UK (not yet in India) yesterday in the shape of Samsung’s BD-P1000 player and, at £1000.
Still, the jury’s out on whether HD-DVD or Blu-ray will win the day, since the format war is only just beginning. It’s unlikely that either format will enjoy the monumental lack of success that DVD-Audio and SACD managed but there’s still likely to be a loser.

“BlackBerry Thumb” sparks new form of hand massage

Many BlackBerry users feel the “BlackBerry Thumb” affect after spending hours on a hand-held e-mail device. This thumb effect results in sore thumbs, but there is a possible solution. The Hyatt hotel chain found so many of their business travelers were complaining of hand and arm discomfort that they have introduced a special “BlackBerry Balm” hand massage at most of their North American spas.
Corporate spa director Kyra Johnson said guests began asking masseurs to spend more time on their hands and arms because of the growing popularity of PDA (personal digital assistant) devices like BlackBerrys and Treos. The 30-minute massage, that costs about $30, begins with heat treatment and uses a “BlackBerry Balm.” It “focuses on counteracting tension on various hand and arm muscles, specifically in the thumbs and overworked wrists,” according to a Hyatt statement.
The American Physical Therapy Association recently recognized BlackBerry Thumb as an official work place malady — a stress-related injury due to over-use of any PDA or smartphone. Ontario-based Research IN Motion Ltd’s BlackBerry became a technological must-have in the late 1990s as a tool that delivers e-mail to users on the move.Professor Alan Hedge, an ergonomics specialist at Cornell University in New York state, said the condition is caused by “highly repetitive, forceful thumb movements with the thumbs held back from the palms.” The symptoms are pain in the thumb and region around the base of the thumb and hand. Treatment typically consists of resting or strapping the thumb, anti-inflammatory medicines, cortisone injections and, as a last resort, surgery.
