Samsung’s Blu-Ray DVD hits the market

If it hadn’t been for the PS3’s heartbreaking delay, we’d have expected to see our first Blu-ray machine in the form of a next-gen console.
As it is, our first taste of Blu-ray hit the UK (not yet in India) yesterday in the shape of Samsung’s BD-P1000 player and, at £1000.
Still, the jury’s out on whether HD-DVD or Blu-ray will win the day, since the format war is only just beginning. It’s unlikely that either format will enjoy the monumental lack of success that DVD-Audio and SACD managed but there’s still likely to be a loser.
